Coming soon to Amazon Prime Video! A BookTok and Wattpad Viral Sensation

This spellbinding #BookTok sensation from internationally bestselling author Ariana Godoy follows a nineteen-year-old battling agoraphobia as she forms an unexpected connection with the host of her favorite college radio show.

Klara Rodríguez has barely left her house in eight agonizing months. Imprisoned by agoraphobia and anxiety, she has seen her world shrink to the walls of her bedroom, where every other night, one voice pierces through her isolation. It belongs to Kang, the soothing, thoughtful host of her favorite late-night college radio program.

Then, an unexpected text message changes everything. The voice that has been her invisible companion suddenly has a life beyond the airwaves. As their connection deepens, it becomes the fragile thread Klara clings to while fighting to reclaim pieces of herself.

Can you fall in love with someone you’ve never seen? Can a voice become your anchor in the storm? And is Klara strong enough to face not only the outside world but the person she loves?

In a moment of desperate courage, Klara enrolls in community college. But she realizes the universe has a sense of humor when she discovers that Kang’s schedule overlaps with her only in-person class. Now, Klara’s greatest battle isn't just against the pull of her bedroom walls. It’s facing the person she might already love.

Achingly raw and profoundly hopeful, Follow My Voice reminds us that sometimes the most important voice to follow is the one we find within ourselves—even when it’s the hardest one to hear. Though it doesn’t hurt if you find love and friendship along the way.

Happy Tuesday, mis internet amigxs!\ \ It's my birthday week AND I'll be on vacation, so while I'll be posting on Tik Tok (probably almost exclusively) for the next week or so, I'll be largely absent, trying to enjoy this significant birthday celebration with my beloveds.\ \ I forgot to mention it last week, but you may have noticed I'm not ranking my most anticipated books during Latinx Heritage Month. It's for a myriad of reasons, mostly that there are SO many releases, it feels like I'm short-changing all the books which are surely to be lost in the shuffle. I‘d recommended Follow My Voice in the early newsletter, but I started it and it gave me Everything, Everything (by Nicola Yoon) vibes so I DNF’d it. I instead started Lemons and Lies by Cuban-American author Alexis Castellanos and am loving the companion book to last year’s Guava and Grudges.\ \ There's a lot to get done between now and departing, so let's cut this introduction short and get to next week's Latine releases...\ \ ROMANCE \ \ The Catch by Leonor Soliz\ \ YOUNG ADULT FANTASY \ \ Unending by Ivelisse Housman (Audiobook)\ \ MIDDLE GRADE \ \ \ \ The Better To Eat You With by Tehlor Kay Mejia (Audiobook)\ \ COLLEGE ROMANCE \ \ \ \ Follow My Voice by Ariana Godoy (Audiobook)\ \ PICTURE BOOK \ \ How Do You Roll Your R's?: A Spanish-English Vocabulary and Sound Book for Kids 2-5 by Mike Alfaro and Gerardo Guillen\ \ FANTASY \ \ \ \ Whispers of Emerstones by M. Maldonado\ \ TRANSLATED LITERARY FICTION \ \ \ \ The Event by Juan Jose Saer and translated by Helene R. Lane\ \ PAPERBACK RELEASE \ \ Defectors by Paola Ramos (Audiobook) Whoops! I missed this one. It released September 9th, but worth noting that this stellar work that brought me back to reading after the disorienting election results last November is now available in paperback!\ \ xoxo,\ \ Carmen

Happy Friday, mis internet amigxs!\ \ I will be emailing winners of both the $100 Bookshop gift card AND The Possession of Alba Diaz this afternoon when I get home, so be sure to get your last minute entries in today!\ \ I forgot to mention it last week, but you may have noticed I'm not ranking my most anticipated books during Latinx Heritage Month. It's for a myriad of reasons, mostly that there are SO many releases, it feels like I'm short-changing all the books which are surely to be lost in the shuffle. However, if I was forced to pick this week, it would be Follow My Voice because not only is the synopsis giving me Turtles All The Way Down vibes, but we get so few college stories in romance. I'm so, so curious about this one and excited to see where it will take me.\ \ A note on upcoming programming: I'm getting a head start on next week's Latine releases because I'll be out of town celebrating my 50th birthday with some of my dearest friends!!! My flabbers are still gasted over how quickly these decades have flown by, but of one thing I can be sure: doing this work is the most rewarding of my life. I'll try to update you while I'm away and am very busy batch recording content this weekend so that I'll have at least one piece of content every day I'm away. It's all so stressful and overwhelming, but if it doesn't work out, then you'll get an avalanche of content when I return.\ \ And now, on to next week's Latine releases...\ \ ROMANCE \ \ The Catch by Leonor Soliz: Romance featuring plus-sized FMC. Tropes include roommates to lovers and brother's best friend. Love Latine sports romances!\ \ YOUNG ADULT FANTASY \ \ Unending by Ivelisse Housman (Audiobook) Conclusion to fantasy duology featuring autistic main character. Fae, changlings, power and can sisters, Isolde and Seelie, keep their world from splintering?\ \ MIDDLE GRADE \ \ \ \ The Better To Eat You With by Tehlor Kay Mejia (Audiobook) a spine-tingling tale of transformation, mystery, and the monsters we face—inside and out. A perfect spooky season read for the middle graders.\ \ COLLEGE ROMANCE \ \ \ \ Follow My Voice by Ariana Godoy (Audiobook) The first thing that caught my eye of about this romance is that Amazon has already aquired rights to the film. The second thing is the premise: an agoraphobic girl forms a connection to the host of her favorite college radio show.\ \ PICTURE BOOK \ \ How Do You Roll Your R's?: A Spanish-English Vocabulary and Sound Book for Kids 2-5 by Mike Alfaro and Gerardo Guillen: This is also a sound book!\ \ FANTASY \ \ \ \ Whispers of Emerstones by M. Maldonado: 3 mining cities, divided by sentient mountains, face their worst nightmare when smoke begins to stir from the haunted peaks. As panic spreads, each city leader's reaction to the omen plunges cities into chaos forcing them to sacrifice the unthinkable. Just based on the cover--very excited for more Latine dragons.\ \ TRANSLATED LITERARY FICTION \ \ \ \ The Event by Juan Jose Saer and translated by Helene R. Lane: Translation of one of Argentina's most celebrated moder writers, this is the story of a magician who is exposed as a fraud and escapes to a small rural town and emerges with a new identity--a psychological mystery that toes the line between illusion and reality.\ \ PAPERBACK RELEASE \ \ Defectors by Paola Ramos (Audiobook) Whoops! I missed this one. It released September 9th, but worth noting that this stellar work that brought me back to reading after the disorienting election results last November is now available in paperback!\ \ xoxo,\ \ Carmen

[Poll:\ \ Are any of these on your TBR?\ \ Hi nerds,\ \ Last night we held our second installment of the Sunny's Salon—a monthly addition to our event programming that is like a book club with no assigned reading. We kicked off the night by doing a 15 minute reading sprint with some lofi music playing in the background and then went into a larger discussion centered around or Last, Now, and Next. It was so fun hearing about what people were reading or had on their radar (weirdly three people wanted to read Lapvona by Ottessa Moshfegh next) and seeing where reading taste overlapped and differed. Below you will find 50 (!) book recommendations gathered from the Yuma community.\ \ \ \
