“This is one of my coziest reads of the last year, and I find myself thinking about its enchanted setting all the time.”
— Emily Henry, #1 New York Times bestselling author
A warm and uplifting novel about an isolated witch whose opportunity to embrace a quirky new family—and a new love—changes the course of her life.
As one of the few witches in Britain, Mika Moon knows she has to hide her magic, keep her head down, and stay away from other witches so their powers don’t mingle and draw attention. And as an orphan who lost her parents at a young age and was raised by strangers, she’s used to being alone and she follows the rules...with one exception: an online account, where she posts videos "pretending" to be a witch. She thinks no one will take it seriously.
But someone does. An unexpected message arrives, begging her to travel to the remote and mysterious Nowhere House to teach three young witches how to control their magic. It breaks all of the rules, but Mika goes anyway, and is immediately tangled up in the lives and secrets of not only her three charges, but also an absent archaeologist, a retired actor, two long-suffering caretakers, and…Jamie.
The handsome and prickly librarian of Nowhere House would do anything to protect the children, and as far as he’s concerned, a stranger like Mika is a threat. An irritatingly appealing threat.
As Mika begins to find her place at Nowhere House, the thought of belonging somewhere begins to feel like a real possibility. But magic isn't the only danger in the world, and when peril comes knocking at their door, Mika will need to decide whether to risk everything to protect a found family she didn’t know she was looking for....

[Hello Friends,\ \ As you know, each month one paid subscriber from the $5 tier receives a hand written letter with book recs and one paid subscriber from the $12/$25 dollar tier receives a book box curated by me+a letter with book recs. Winners are selected by an automated generator. Both subscribers have the option of also being feautred in a spotlight post (this is OPTIONAL, which means even though there is are two members selected each month, you may not see a post).\ \ \ \ \ \ This month, I am so happy to highlight one of my favorite accounts, Chrissy, at Lostinabookbrb on most social platforms. Chrissy was selected to receive the curated book box and if you're curious as to what was in the box, you can see her video here, be sure to give her a follow on Tiktok: :View The Video\ \ Chrissy was one of my first mutuals on Tiktok! She reads diversely and like me, she reads in multiple genres! Romance! Horror! Fantasy! Her videos are often really, really funny!\ \ I asked Chrissy to share her top 5 favorite books:\ \
- The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches by Sangu Mandanna\
- Camp Damascus by Chuck Tinge\
- Before I Let Go by Kennedy Ryan\
- Hency by Natalie Natalie Zina Walschots\
- Against The Loveless World by Susan Abulhawa\ \ Chrissy said "these are all books from this year. I had three that I desperately wanted to include but decided on these ones due to writing style, impact and how much I remember bout it after I read it."\ \ Chrissy has a book club on Fable for Diverse Historical Romance!\ \ https://fable.co/club/diverse-historical-romance-with-lostinabookbrb-810784440486\\ \ In addition to Tiktok and Fable, you can find Chrissy on\ \ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/lostinabookbrb/profilecard/?igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==\\ \ Threads: https://www.threads.net/@lostinabookbrb?igshid=MGUxYzgxM2YwYQ==\\ \ Bluesky https://bsky.app/profile/lostinabookbrb.bsky.social\\ \ Youtube: https://youtube.com/@lostinabookbrb?si=G7fcOKT1VIETIsOb\\ \ I am so lucky to have Chrissy as a mutual and as a supporter of the Boozhoo Books community.\ \ \ \ ](https://boozhoo.binderybooks.com/item/YMGBPmCzCBJgPdK0gxqB/)

\ \ ☁️ Happy AANHPI Month!! ☁️\ \ This is a very very small list of book recommendations across 7 genres. Drop your favorite in the comments (if it’s not listed here!)\ \ When I was researching books for this post, I was getting extremely frustrated with the grouping together of Asian Americans, Pacific Islanders, and Native Hawaiians. We are a group of so many identities & cultures. South Asian people alone have so many subgroups & cultures, its annoying to be put into this generic box. I only added 9 books for each genre so this list is definitely not indicative of the wide range of people that we are! I buy a lot of books, but do I read a lot of books? Let’s find out together!
Also, this is satire friends, I only buy books that I’m interested in reading. It may take me awhile to get to them, but I do eventually read them or I pass them off to friends/family/little free library if I decide I’ve changed my mind.
