Many of you are aware that I've been rereading _The Hunger Games_ books after finishing _Sunrise on the Reaping_ (and loving it). I've completed my reread of the original trilogy which is not without its faults. I have a lot of qualms with the way Suzanne Collins handles race and disability. It's something I want to do a longer series of videos on. Nevertheless, it was so fun to reread the trilogy more than 10 years after I'd read it the first time. This is a series that was incredibly pivotal for me as a teenager. I'm also planning on rewatching the movies soon.\\
\\
Now I'm reading _The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes_ (yes, I'm very late to that) and HATING it. It's baffling that this could have come from the same person that crafted the other books in this series. My main question is: Who is this book for?\\
\\
It's too long, there are too many characters to follow (with many ending up dead soon after introduction), and the third person limited POV was probably one of the worst decisions for this particular novel. I think it would've been a lot better if we got Lucy's perspective, alternating perspectives, or any other narrative style that isn't this one, but I also have some issues with Lucy Gray and I don't know if I'm ready to get into all that right now.\\
\\
Thankfully, I'm also reading _The Bewitching_ by Silvia Moreno-Garcia and it is so much more entertaining. I'm about halfway through and can't wait for more people to read it after it's released next week.\\

Replying to @sammy.huang\_ While we can infer all day, the textual evidence suggests ambiguity for Lou Lou/Louella based on Suzanne's exact and consistent choices of verbiage. The movie depictions are also not canon to the books (obviously, hardly any of the cast fit the book descriptions anyway). D11's contribution is extremely important to the rebellion and most definitely represents how black people and other underrepresented communities are always first to fight despite being last to receive rights. It being a primarily black district makes sense and is as canon as Suzanne has made it based on geography and those reaped but she is also very clear when someone has dark or brown skin. #louellamccoy #sunriseonthereaping #thehungergames
