[Hello loves! I can’t believe we’re almost at the end of April — this year feels like it’s passing by so quickly!\ \ \ \ What’s going on with me:\ \ I’ve been a reading machine lately—I’ve read 11 books so far this month which is so unlike me lol. But I think the vlogs I’ve been filming have really helped with keeping me on track. If you haven’t seen my spicy romance vlog yet then go check it out here: https://youtu.be/ZwlL8mJmF5w\\ \ I’m also currently in the midst of planning a trip to Italy with my boyfriend for June and could not be more excited! If you have any tips or suggestions for Italy PLEASE let me know! We’re spending a few days in Rome and then looking into Florence, Amalfi Coast, and Milan—though we’ve also gotten advice to ditch Amalfi since it’s very touristy and instead do Apulia and also drive through Tuscany. Hoping to make some more decisions and have a concrete plan by the end of this week!\ \ \ \ How I’m doing ~ mentally ~\ \ I’ve been in a bit of a depressive episode recently but thankfully my meds are keeping it from affecting me too too much. I think what’s been getting to me most are the numbers again which sounds dumb but YouTube has been severely suppressing my videos these days and they haven’t gotten anywhere near the amount of impressions they usually do, which in turn means lower views and lower performance.\ \ Again, I’m trying not to let the numbers get to me but it’s a bit difficult when your livelihood in part depends on it. This is yet another reason why I’m so grateful to all of you for supporting me and my channel through Bindery <3\ \ \ \ What I’m working on this week:\ \ This week I’m editing my “viral booktok hot sad girls books” vlog and then I’ll also be filming a few videos this weekend:\ \

My favourite books by Asian authors (recommendation video for Asian Heritage Month / AAPI month)\ \ I’m also hoping to start that Bridgerton vlog (where I read the last 3 books in the series). I’ve been meaning to do it for ages but kept failing to find the right moment to start it. But we’re only a few weeks out from season 3 of the show coming out so I really need to get on it!\ \ And finally, I’m also hoping to start a vlog series this week for my writing that may or may not end up being a Bindery exclusive series 👀 More details to come!\ \ \ \ What I’m currently reading:\ \ Funny Story by Emily Henry! — I started this yesterday and am already really enjoying myself. There’s something just so comforting about falling back into an Emily Henry book.\ \ Hoping to start The Familiar by Leigh Bardugo next since that’s another anticipated release for me and I’d like to get it into my March-April wrapup video as well.\ \ \ \ What I’m watching:\ \ I recently just finished watching 3 Body Problem with my boyfriend! I got him to read the books last year and he loved them and so he was super hyped to watch the show when it came out on Netflix. I still haven’t read the books yet but I have to say season 1 of the show was fantastic and I really hope they renew the series for more seasons. If you’re into sci-fi at all then this is a great one to check out!\ \ I also recently started watching One Day on Netflix as well—I’ve never read the book but I have seen the older movie adaptation with Anne Hathaway and thought it was alright. But I’m two episodes into the show so far and really liking it! I’m tempted to pick up the book but I feel like it won’t have the same charm.\ \ \ \ Anyways that’s all from me for today! [Not June flying by in five seconds!! This month wasn’t as busy for me, thank God. Still, I had a great month, so let’s talk about it!\ \ I attended one bookish event this month: a happy hour with Lisa Jewell and Jessica Knoll to celebrate the release of their newest books. Despite being DRENCHED, I had an amazing time. Lisa and Jessica were so nice and personable, and they even signed my books! They really sold me on them. As someone who's trying to immerse myself in more thriller novels, these sound like a great place to start. There was great food, great cocktails, and I got to meet so many bookish creators I'd never met before. I’m so excited to read It Could Have Been Her and Helpless!\ \ \ \ I watched two new movies this month. The Toy Story series is such a staple of my childhood. Many people said we didn’t need a fifth Toy Story, but those people would be wrong! This movie was so good—I cried (lol). I liked how this one focused on Jessie and her trauma, and how she unpacked that trauma throughout the movie. Also, we got a new Taylor Swift song, which is also a banger, so no complaints from me. I also saw Supergirl, which was SO much better than people were saying. It wasn’t, by any means, the best movie I’ve ever seen, but it was fun, the story had some important messaging, and Milly Alcock was the perfect Supergirl.\ \ Toy Story 5 - 4.5⭐\ \ Supergirl - 3.5⭐\ \ I’ve been locked into House of the Dragon season 3, and I won’t say anything spoilery, but I’m enjoying the direction the story is going. GO TEAM BLACK! I’m also rewatching Modern Family, one of the best shows ever made. It’s so funny and was so ahead of its time. Child Lily is peak humor—if you know, you know.\ \ I read 13 books this month, the same number I read in May, and I’m really hitting my stride. I didn’t rate a single book under 3 stars, and even though I didn’t have any 5-star reads, I had several 4.5-star reads, so I’ll count that as a win. Now that it’s pool weather, I’ve been reading so much outside and listening to audiobooks in the pool. I’m truly living my best life.\ \ Here are the books I read and my ratings:\ \

I finished two books this week, and they could not have been more different for me.\ \ Just Our Luck started off as this cozy, feel-good vibe… but somewhere around the middle, I lost steam. By the last 20% I was more like “just get me through this” and ended up skimming the end. 😭😭\ \ What didn’t land for me: the MMC came off as lowkey mean at times, and the FMC felt a little too innocent for the energy of the story. And the Whole Lottery Thing… she wins a life-changing amount of money and then basically keeps living like nothing happened??\ \ \ \ I was here mentally booking Paris, Seoul, spa days, big moves with her money, but she’s at a donut shop trying to be near her crush. I just could not suspend disbelief lol.\ \ Funny Story was much more my vibe. The FMC’s issues with her father actually hit me, HARD. She’s emotionally grown, but sometimes parents have a funny way of hitting our soft spots. That added a level of depth that I didn’t expect.\ \ The MMC was such a soft teddy bear, supportive, earnest, calming, and yet the bedroom dynamic surprised me in the best way. Like when we say talk her through it, that's exactly what he did. No notes. I don’t usually crave spicy scenes, but here it felt earned and natural. If intimacy jumps in too fast I get bored, and this one paced itself perfectly for me.\ \ Overall, pacing was smooth, emotional arcs felt believable, and I walked away satisfied.\ \ Week verdict:\ \ Just Our Luck - fell flat\ \ Funny Story - cozy, meaningful, well paced

Yes, you are reading that correct, that says this is announcing the 2024 Best of Books winners. In November. of 2025.\ \ I wish I had a reasonable excuse for this, I really do...but I don't. I genuinely can't even tell you why I didn't release this in January like I was supposed to or why I haven't released it in the many months that these images have been sitting in my Canva projects, but from the bottom of my heart I have no idea. Anyway, it has now been almost a full year since we first started the process of nominating books for our Best of Books 2024 and for the love of god I need this to not be hanging over my head anymore. I say that as though there was literally anything or anyone but my own damn self keeping me from getting this out, BUT THERE WASN'T.\ \ You ever get a text or an email from someone that you don't reply to right away and then you kind of forget about it until it's a few days later and you go "oh my god I need to reply to that" but you've remembered at 1am and that's not a reasonable hour to text someone so you'll do it in the morning, and then you wake up in the morning and for many more mornings until the next time you remember it's suddenly been weeks and now it's awkward but you really should reply to it but you put it off because now you're embarrassed and then the longer you wait the worse it gets so you just never reply and suddenly you've ignored someone you really meant to get back to?\ \ That's normal...right? Anyway that's basically what has happened here and I refuse to have this sitting on my dusty, unseen to-do list any longer so HERE are the winners of our 2024 Best of Books:\ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ And there we have it!
