How has your Q1 reading been?
I haven’t had it in me to make monthly reading wrap ups, especially with how different this reading year has been for me compared to the past. Usually, at this point I’ve read over 20 books, but this year I’ve got less than half of that. I’ve spent so much time doomscrolling, or napping after work, or just staring off and dissociating
But I’ve also spent so much time with the people I love and who love me back. I’ve gotten to work with immigrant communities (specifically my local Haitian community) through my day job in a way that’s felt especially meaningful. I have been in community irl in ways I hadn’t had the time or resources to do before and for that, I’m thankful
I’m not going to make big promises about posting every day or even every week, but I can promise that I’ll continue to post about things that matter. I’ll continue uplifting books by marginalized authors, I’ll continue supporting indie bookstores, and I’ll continue connecting with this virtual community in the ways and times that I’m able to 🫶🏾🫰🏾
