Hello loves!\ \ Apologies for the later than usual journal post—it’s been a difficult few weeks with my health but I’m on the way to getting better!\ \ What I’m starting this week:\ \ I’m working on a vlog where I read the highest and lowest rated books on my TBR! Bride by Ali Hazelwood will be the highest rated book and The Ex Hex_ _by Erin Sterling will be the lowest. Already loving Bride so I’m curious to see what I think of The Ex Hex next—the paranormal, fantasy-romance vibes are just so much fun!\ \ I’ve been increasingly wanting to start writing again, so I’m thinking of slowly getting back into it with my sci-fi novel that I’ve been working on for years. I feel like I’ve grown up so much in the past couple years since my last draft and I’ve just been bursting with new ideas to make the story better. I’m making no promises on timelines or when I’ll finish because I don’t want to stress myself out but I’m hoping that I can make writing fun and exciting again like it used to be when I was younger. Wish me luck!\ \ And let me know if you’d be interested in reading parts of the book as I go as part of your perks here on Bindery! 👀\ \ What I’m currently reading:\ \ I just finished reading Kindred by Octavia E. Butler and omg guys this book was so amazing! I obviously knew it was going to be amazing because it’s a classic and I have read one book by Octavia E. Butler before, but my god, it exceeded even my high expectations.\ \ I’m also about to start Technofeudalism_ by Yanis Varoufakis as part of my research/inspiration for my book. If you may recall, I read a couple of Yanis Varoufakis’s books last year ( Another Now_, and Talking to My Daughter About the Economy) and absolutely loved them, so I’m excited to see what I think of this one and what ideas he puts forth.\ \ What’s currently giving me stress:\ \ My health _again_ 😵‍💫My chronic health issues have taken an even deeper dive and I haven’t been able to eat properly the past few weeks. I’ve been spending a lot of time at home and partly in pain so it’s been fairly difficult to do my regular activities of filming and editing. Even reading is hard when I can’t get my mind off the pain. I’ve mostly been curled into a ball watching TV and hoping that this will pass soon. I’m currently seeing a naturopath to see if there’s something they can help with that my doctor isn’t able to dedicate the time to so hopefully that will bring me some relief soon!\ \ What I’m loving right now:\ **Cooking! **With all my chronic digestive issues I’ve had to be very vigilant with what I eat so I’ve had to get fairly creative with my cooking and meal prep. I’ve been exploring new recipes for non-acidic, anti-inflammatory food and making modifications to recipes I already know. Overall, I’m getting more practice with cooking so I guess that’s a silver lining to all of this!\ \ That’s all from me for today!
