Hello loves! Welcome to another week—sorry this is a day late but as they say, better late than never!\ \ What’s going on with me:\ \ At last I am feeling more settled into my new place now that it’s been a week and a half or so. I filmed a lot of stuff over the long weekend here in Canada and was just so happy with the new lighting. My new place has tons of windows and since it’s on a much higher floor than my last place, it also just generally gets a lot of light. Which means much better lighting for videos and also lots of vitamin D to keep my mood up!\ \ \ \ How I’m doing ~ mentally ~\ \ Things are still up and down—I was having a few great days and then plummeted hard into a couple bad ones. I’m trying to remind myself that the reality of living with mental illness and especially with a mood disorder like bipolar is that the one thing I can be certain of is the uncertainty of my mind. So I’m trying to ride the highs as they come and give myself grace on the low days because that’s simply the best I can do.\ \ \ \ What I’m working on this week:\ \ I have been working on a new vlog for the channel where I wake up at **5AM every day for a week **to try to get some more reading into my day. Video to come next week so you can see how it went, but suffice to say it’s been a long week lol.\ \ Next, I’ll be working on a vlog (which will hopefully be the start of a new series) where I read a popular romantasy book—most likely Gothikana by RuNyx for this one 👀 Let me know if one of you have read it—I am both scared and excited to start it.\ \ Finally, I’m working on getting back into posting short form IG and Tiktok content—will be filming a bunch of things this weekend to get myself there so wish me luck!\ \ \ \ What I’m currently reading:\ \ Alone With You in the Ether by Olivie Blake— I just finished this yesterday and I have SO MANY thoughts which I will be sharing in a video soon. I will say that this book definitely took me by surprise and hit me in a way that felt very personal. I was also marveling at Olivie Blake’s writing the entire and it has definitely made me more eager to get back into writing again.\ \ **The Lion Women of Tehran by Marjan Kamali **— as I’ve mentioned a bunch, this is the August pick for my book club (the Boundless Book Club on the Fable app, download and join for free here ). I’m a few chapters in and again just so impressed with the author’s writing. It’s so vivid and beautiful and I want to savour every last word. Hello loves! I’m writing to you from my new(!) apartment and in my bed because I currently don’t have a desk or a dining table to work from 🤪\ \ What’s going on with me:\ \ Ever since getting back from Italy it’s been pretty go-go-go. Moving was absolutely stressful and the logistics of it all was driving me insane—renting a truck, picking up and loading all of my stuff, selling furniture and buying furniture on facebook marketplace, etc. Suffice to say I am SO glad that it’s finally over. I’m still far from settled in and still need to unpack a few last boxes and also get rid of some clothes and things that I don’t need anymore. (I really just have way too much crap lol). I am also sorely in need of setting up my workspace in the second bedroom but that will have to wait for a week as I’ve got some family staying with me for a bit.\ \ One thing that I’ve gotten hooked on during this time is selling things on Facebook Marketplace that I really don’t use or need anymore. And this actually happens to include some books I own! There are a lot of YA books that I read years ago that I don’t care to have physical copies of anymore or even special editions of some books I still love but that I don’t particularly feel attached to. I’m overall just feeling this need to declutter and reduce the amount of stuff I have lying around taking up space. I just love the idea of passing on a book to someone who will read it for the first time and love it and I also love that it produces less waste. This is not to say that I won’t buy new physical books anymore (though I’m trying not to), but I will be far more intentional about it moving forward!\ \ \ \ How I’m doing ~ mentally ~\ \ Aside from the stress of the move (which is now over yay!), I'm definitely just feeling the summer work blues in the sense that it’s really hard to motivate myself to do youtube work like editing or emails which requires me to be inside when it’s really beautiful outside and just perfect weather for a patio with friends or for going to the pool at my new building. This is not to say that I’ve even remotely had the time to do even that but the fact remains that trying to edit or film, or plan or post content feels like pulling teeth. This is especially the case because I’ve also lost out on a couple sponsorships recently due to logistical issues and also because of video performance recently and that has definitely been a hit on my mental health. I find myself going in and out of these cycles of wanting to post all the content to not wanting to open instagram or youtube at all for weeks.\ \ Regardless, now that my vacation is over and my move is complete, I’m hoping that I can find some semblance of balance.\ \ \ \ What I’m working on this week:\ \ I’VE SEEN ROUND 2 COVERS for Dust Settles North and suffice to say I am SO HYPED. This round is so much better than the last and really encapsulates what the book feels like to me. We’re still workshopping some colour options and looking into potentially getting a hand letterer to do some custom typework but things are coming together!!\ \ \ \ What I’m currently reading:\ \ Alone With You in the Ether by Olivie Blake— oh my god this book is everything i’ve been needing in a book — bipolar rep, eccentric and weird and deeply thoughtful main characters, and an esoteric love story that shouldn’t make sense but somehow does and feels like a work of fate. I’m about 50% through but had to stop to focus on the other thing I’m reading…\ \ A new Bindery submission 🤭— y’all! You do not understand how HOOKED I am on this new submission. This is the first time I’m mentioning it because it’s been fairly whirlwind. About a week or so before my move Meghan Harvey (co-founder of Bindery and President) shot me an email about a new agented submission that had come through that she thought was exactly up my alley. I was definitely intrigued by the pitch so I downloaded it to my Kobo eReader immediately to dig into and from PAGE ONE I was just mesmerized. This is such a fun one, full of heart, drama, and intrigue. It’s so different from Dust Settles North in terms of genre and content but at the same time very similar in its core message. I’m about 35% through and just itching to read more. I’m hoping to carve some time this week to blow through the rest and film a video with my thoughts for all of you asap!!\ \ \ \ What I’m watching:\ \ I finally got around to watching the last half of Bridgerton season 3 on my flight back home from Italy and I have to say, the last two episodes really did it for me! I loved how the storylines with Penolope’s mother and with Eloise also come to a head in this season to really compliment Penelope’s growth overall. I loved all of the revelations in the last couple episodes and all of the hints at the tweaks they made for the future books/seasons. Overall, happy I finally finished watching and am desperate for season 4 now!\ \ Aside from that I started yet another rewatch of Gilmore Girls while doing my packing for the move. I’m halfway through season 1 and just obsessed still with how charming the first few seasons are while Rory is still at Chilton.\ \ \ \ OK that’s all from me!
