A small west Texas town driven by oil and cotton—and a place where everyone knows everyone else’s business. So it goes for Tolly Driver, a good kid with more potential than application, seventeen, and about to be cursed to kill for revenge. Here Stephen Graham Jones explores the Texas he grew up in, the unfairness of being on the outside, through the slasher horror he lives but from the perspective of the killer, Tolly, writing his own autobiography. Find yourself rooting for a killer in this summer teen movie of a novel gone full blood-curdling tragic. In this town, young Black girls go missing year after year and no one seems to be doing anything about it so Liz decides to take matters into her own hands. \\ \\ - Maggies Grave by David Sodergren \- In a tiny Scottish town, it's rumored that Maggie Wall who was buried as a witch with her unborn baby in the 1600s has been haunting the residents here. When a new visitor comes to town, it seems like Maggie has been awoken and is here for revenge. \\ \\ - Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn \- A reporter goes back to her small home town to investigate the murder and disappearance of 2 teenage girls. Despite a lot of tragedy along the way, this one ended with a hopeful future."\\ \\ **Moon of the Turning Leaves** by Waubgeshig Rice\\ \\ Recommended by reader: **Tracy**\\ \\ "This is a detailed, slow burning post-apocalyptic thriller with the eerie realism of human nature."\\ \\ **The Truth According to Ember** by Danica Nava\\ \\ Recommended by reader: **Ilona**\\ \\ "It was so funny and had a lot of heart. It was nice having Oklahoma represented in a way that wasn't tied to how awful it can be instead of showing the joy that can be found here."\\ \\ **Never Whistle At Night** edited by Shane Hawk and Theodore C. Van Alst Jr\\ \\ Recommended by reader: **MythicalReadsReviewer**\\ \\ "Even though horror isn't my usual genre, I absolutely loved it. It was hard to believe that there were so many stories that were that good, but I'd be hard pressed to name another anthology that had such range while still holding mostly bangers."\\ \\ **I Was A Teenage Slasher** by Stephen Graham Jones\\ \\ Recommended by reader **MichelleMyBelle**\\ \\ "I loved the way this book played with the genre. Stay Tuned!\\ \\ The \*\*subscription upgrade \*\*is something that I am really excited about because it is bringing me back to work on building out the paid tiers to make them worthwhile for everyone. I believe that more paid subscribers will help me speed the imprint journey along (That's why we are all here, right? \*\*We want to publish Indigenous books together! \*\*We are going to make that happen. We are the movement!) Thank you so much to those early paid subscribers who believed in this project from the first minute. (including you, mom, who I also bullied into joining).\\ \\ If you were a paid subsciber at the $5 or $12 level, **what special perks would you want**. I'm going back to the drawing table this weekend to do some work. You may notice that I renamed the tiers. The $5 tier is now Buddy Reads. The $12 tier is Enemies to Lovers. I think it's cute. What do you guys think?\\ \\ I hope everyone has a great weekend full of good reads. I will be finishing Lizards Hold The Sun, Gods of Jade and Shadow and starting I Was A Teenage Slasher. **Tell me what you're reading below!**\\ \\ How Do I Sign A Newsletter,\\ \\ Naomi, from the mixed up desk\\ \\ \\ \\ ](https://boozhoo.binderybooks.com/item/p9kT3lut7TlfIMdPrLDn/) [Notes From The Mixed Up Desk, August 2, 2024](https://boozhoo.binderybooks.com/item/p9kT3lut7TlfIMdPrLDn/) * * * 9 books 8 [Boozhoo Books\\ \\ Naomi\\ \\ • Jun 20 2024](https://boozhoo.binderybooks.com/) Join for free [Indigenous horror book recommendations and Indigenous h](https://boozhoo.binderybooks.com/item/g4VJm8bBDD9TftfbyGUq/) Indigenous horror book recommendations and Indigenous horror books I want to read. * * * 6 books [Not So Well Read\\ \\ Courtney\\ \\ • Jun 15 2024](https://notsowellread.binderybooks.com/) Join for free [Most Anticipated Summer Releases](https://notsowellread.binderybooks.com/item/sUyYLMl0c1qSgbuzSNqq/) New books I think you should pick up this summer... * * * 12 books 1 [Boozhoo Books\\ \\ Naomi\\ \\ • Apr 20 2024](https://boozhoo.binderybooks.com/) Join for free [Indigenous Book Mail](https://boozhoo.binderybooks.com/item/HuduiFkxbUTUeJxUaCyh/) Click Photo To Hear More About The Books * * * 7 books 3 [Boozhoo Books\\ \\ Naomi\\ \\ • Feb 1 2024](https://boozhoo.binderybooks.com/) Join for free [3 Indigenous Book Releasing This Year](https://boozhoo.binderybooks.com/item/ErerNO3WuRRvpVH0JTR0/) Here are 3 Indigenous Books releasing later this year that I cant wait to get my hands on! # * * * 3 books
