New York Times-bestselling author Aiden Thomas returns to the beloved world of The Sunbearer Trials in Celestial Monsters, a heart-stopping duology finale, in which three young semidioses travel through a dark monster-infested world, facing down chaotic Obsidian gods, in a quest to save their friends and return the sun to the sky.
Teo never thought he could be a Hero. Now, he doesn’t have a choice. The sun is gone, the Obsidian gods have been released from their prison, and chaos and destruction are wreaking havoc on Reino del Sol. All because Teo refused to sacrifice a fellow semidiose during the Sunbearer Trials.
With the world plunged into perpetual night, Teo, his crush Aurelio, and his best friend Niya must journey to the dark wilderness of Los Restos, battling vicious monsters while dealing with guilt, trauma, and a (very distracting) burgeoning romance between Teo and Aurelio.
Once more racing against the clock, the trio are determined to rescue the captured semidioses and retrieve the Sol Stone. With it, Sol and their protective light can return and order can be restored.
Now the future of the whole world is in their hands.

So far my goal of creating longer content about the books I'm reading is a success!!! Just trying to take this one video at a time. I'm pretty happy with the range of books I read in February especially since I do love to focus on romance books and I managed to read some new releases and books off my TBR. two of my most anticipated reads of 2024 are out in the world today - and i had the great privilege to read and review both early (don’t worry, they didn’t disappoint).
celestial monsters tosses us right back into the world of the sunbearer trials – and the end to this colorful & charming duology did not disappoint.
beyond the magic and fun and incorporation of Mexican mythology, there’s also some beautiful community care and futuristic ways of building societies here (avoiding violence and prioritizing hearing from all voices). that was awesome.
compound fracture is a rallying cry to young queer people who never give up, a warm hug for family that is doing their best, and a love letter to hometowns that are messy, but still yours.
there’s teeth and fangs and gore like always (but don’t worry about Lady the dog - she’s a very-alive-hero by the end of the story). there’s earnest community and optimism that maybe we really can reshape all the systemic pain of our world. there’s a beautiful reminder that trans people have always existed.
YAY to both of these beautiful, brilliant reads and GO GET THEM NOW!!
