I read so many books for my thesis and for work in 2025, and many of them made my list of favorite reads for the year. I also read a ton of fiction, continuing my horror streak from last year and deep-diving into new-to-me authors.

If you’re subscribed to the Nonbinarian newsletter, you may have read this piece about fat representation in books and how rare it is to find fat characters who aren’t written about with absolute disgust.
Representation is only one step toward liberation, but it’s a big one. When we see ourselves in media and feel good about the way we’re depicted, it directly impacts our self esteem and boosts our ability to speak up for our needs and our rights.

This year especially, disabled people and our allies are fighting for our rights with everything we have—and as fervid readers and advocates for more and better intersectional disabled representation in media, we know how much of an impact reading disabled stories can make. 📖
