NOW A MAJOR MOTION PICTURE DIRECTED BY ADAM MACDONALD AND STARRING OLIVIA HOLT
The Breakfast Club meets 28 Days Later in this revised and expanded edition of Courtney Summers's cult classic about a traumatized young woman forced to survive the zombie apocalypse.
Sloane Price knows there are worse things than the end of the world, so when the zombie apocalypse happens, the opportunity to escape her violent home life offers no relief. She's already lost the one thing that matters most—her sister—and now seems like the perfect time to give up.
But when she inadvertently ends up barricaded in her high school with five other teens, their desperate and volatile bids for survival force a series of impossible decisions. As the days creep by and the dead close in, Sloane must confront everything she thought she knew about life, death, survival, and sacrifice and—once and for all—make a choice.
Joined together for the first time in this special "director's cut" edition, This Is Not a Test and its novella sequel Please Remain Calm explore the forces that tether us to life—and to each other—in our darkest times.

January in books 📚✨
The Poisoner & The Arachnid by @ophallic Thank you @simonmaverickaudio for the ARC / ALC 🎧 What a delicious twisted world 🔥 I truly recommend everyone to read Ophelia’s work. This Poisoner Series is seductive, morally gray and a slow-burn series full of lush tension and high stakes. ✨
Fruit of the Flesh by @ophallic Thank you @brilliancepublishing for the ALC 🎧 WTF did I just read. I felt like I was in a fever dream coated in sugar and sin 🍑 a sticky, intoxicating descent into desire, manipulation and obsession where truly nothing is off the tables.
Half His Age by @jennettemccurdy Thank you @librofm for the ALC 🎧 This story tackles a painful, imbalanced relationship into a story of clarity and self worth. It’s the slow female rage that comes from being underestimated and controlled.
My Husband’s Wife by @alicewriterland Thank you @macmillan.audio for the ALC 🎧 My props to you Alice. What a heart racing, knot tight thriller that keeps you guessing until the very last page. A true master of her work, Alice layers secrets, unreliable perspectives and creeping tension as you tackle each chapter. I couldn’t put this down😵💫
This Is Not a Test by @summerscourtney Thank you @librofm for the ALC 🎧 Zombie Apocalypse 🧟 count me in 🔥 A story about survival, will and trauma where zombies are used as facilitator. A true physiological warfare as we follow a group of teens barricaded in their own high school awaiting the countdown to death.
Hollow by @celinaspookyboo Thank you @htpbooks_audio / @htp_hive for the ALC 🎧 Twilight but make it adult ✨ We follow Mia as she is a newly transformed vampire who must choose between two rival vampire families. This was dark, emotional and wildly addictive. Spoiler Alert: Cliff Hanger ending 😭
George Falls Through Time by @rjcollett Thank you @harperaudio for the ALC 🎧 Such an uplifting queer fairytale 🌈 we follow George who time traveled back to the 1300s and learns to fall in love again. It’s funny and heartwarming but also gives you the opportunity to reflect on the constant tension between internal desire and emptiness.

\ \ Are zombies coming back?\ \ For me personally, they never left. Zombies in media have definitely played a huge factor in my horror journey. Train to Busan, Resident Evil, The Walking Dead, and more are all media that I've loved.\ \ In honor of the release of This Is Not a Test by Courtney Summers, I wanted to dive deeper into a few zombie novels that I have either loved or are high on my tbr.\ \ This Is Not a Test by Courtney Summers-(currently reading)-Pitched as The Breakfast Club meets 28 Days Later, the book follows a group of teens that barricade themselves in a highschool during the zombie apocalypse. Warning, this one does dive into some heavy themes such as abuse and thoughts of suicide.\ \ The Girl With All The Gifts by M.R. Carey (read)--This one follows a world plagued by a fungal zombie apocalypse. It involves a teacher, a young girl, and the military in a journey for a cure.\ \ Dread Nation by Justina Ireland (read)--In an alternate history, black girls are forced to attend a school to become "attendants" who protect white society from the undead. This book tackles racism and classicism.\ \ One Yellow Eye by Leigh Radford (tbr)-- This one is a post apocalyptic novel that follows a scientist who hides her undead husband in hopes for a cure.\ \ And Then I Woke Up by Malcolm Devlin (read)-- Not a typical zombie novel. This is an apocalyptic novel that focuses on a hallucinatory virus that leads you to see everyone around you as monsters.\ \ Zone One by Colson Whitehead (tbr)-- This one follows a group of people clearing out underground manhattan of zombies and rebuilding civilization.\ \ World War Z by Max Brooks (tbr)-- A history of the zombie apocalypse told as a post war historical document.\ \ Survivor Song by Paul Tremblay (tbr)--A tense novel following a rabies-like virus. It focuses on a pediatrician who races to help her friend who is eight months pregnant and has been bitten by an infected. She must get the vaccine quick if she wants to save both her self and her unborn baby.\ \ Agnes At The End Of The World by Kelly McWilliams (read)-- A young girl escapes a fundamentalist cult only to get throw into a pandemic in the outside world. \ \ What’s your favorite zombie novel/movie? \ \ Join for free or login](https://ashreadshorror.binderybooks.com/item/icTkfPpfjWEPXvhfbuOT/)
