Cristina and Clement Trudeau have conjured the impossible: justice. They took back their family’s stolen throne to lead New Orleans’ magical community into the brighter future they all deserve.

But when Cris and Clem restored their family power, Valentina Savant lost everything. Her beloved grandparents are gone and her sovereignty has been revoked—she will never be Queen. Unless, of course, someone dethrones the Trudeaus again. And lucky for her, she’s not the only one trying to take them down.

Cris and Clem have enemies coming at them from all directions: Hateful anti-magic protesters sabotage their reign at every turn. A ruthless detective with a personal vendetta against magical crime is hot on their tail just as Cris has discovered her thirst for revenge. And a brutal god, hunting from the shadows, is summoned by the very power Clem needs to protect the boy he loves.

Cris’s hunger for vengeance and Clem’s desire for love could prove to be their family’s downfall, all while new murders, shocking disappearances, and impossible alliances are changing the game forever.

Welcome back to New Orleans, where gods walk among us and justice isn’t served, it’s taken. Most Anticipated from Publishers Weekly, Bookpage, TheGrio, and more!

The Secret Power of Literature... and spoiler alert, it's not escapism.

Escapism is lovely, but that is not what reading does for me. So I thought I would share a little bit about one of the biggest things I get out of reading.

***Trigger warnings: grief, slavery, trauma, parentlessness, broken family, racism***

“Blood Justice” by Terry J. Benton-Walker: Review

I absolutely adored “Blood Justice” by Terry J. Benton-Walker, the riveting sequel to “Blood Debts.” This book is a rollercoaster of black rage and a relentless pursuit of justice, diving deeper into the intricate lives of Cristina and Clement Trudeau. Benton-Walker masterfully expands the lore of this magical world, introducing new and formidable threats that kept me on the edge of my seat. I fell in love with the characters all over again as their stories evolved, especially with Cristina and Clement whose growth and complexity are truly captivating.

The danger in “Blood Justice” is palpable, with enemies lurking around every corner and the stakes higher than ever. The way Benton-Walker weaves together the unresolved issues from the previous book while introducing new challenges is nothing short of brilliant. The ending left me craving for more, eager to see where the series will go next. The themes of vengeance, love, and power are expertly explored, making this book a must-read for fans of urban fantasy. Benton-Walker’s storytelling is as compelling as ever, and I can’t wait to see what happens next in this thrilling series.

In “Blood Justice,” Benton-Walker has crafted a tale that not only entertains but also delves deep into the human psyche, exploring the lengths we are willing to go to for justice and revenge. This book is a testament to Benton-Walker’s skill as a storyteller, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a captivating and thought-provoking read.
