I love your takeaway! I loved this book in all its depravity. I took away that not only is trauma that we choose to look away from happening all around us but in many instances it’s happening to us or because of us. As humans, we make all kinds of excuses to justify the suffering we experience and watch others experience because it feels easier than trying to enact change within ourselves and let alone society as a whole. If we can be so courageous and humble to enact such change within ourselves, we are more likely to encourage others to make changes as well.
