Midsommar meets The Final Girl Support Group in this horror novel about a woman who survived cult killings as a child and is striving to be “normal,” but a spontaneous trip into the woods and the voices in her head keep pulling her to the dark side.

But the murders were seventeen years ago, back when her name was Sabrina. Now, she’s Sadie: a perfectly normal 29-year-old. She works as a physical therapist assistant and lifts weights with her boyfriend, Lucas, who’s the sweetest, most considerate man—as long as he’s not angry.

But when Lucas spontaneously agrees to join a couples trip to a cabin in the woods, the visions get worse, a strange figure stalks her during the night, and that male voice in Sadie’s head keeps calling, asking her to do things she’s never fathomed.

Sadie’s not sure if it’s her paranoia or something else entirely . . . But she is sure of one thing—this time, she’s not going to sit idly by as everything starts to unravel.

[I hope everyone is having a great holiday weekend.\ \ I've been in spending time in the coastal redwoods, relaxing and planning for next year. \ \ I wanted to drop a quick note to let you all know that one of the things I am thankful for this year is all of you! because without you none of this would be possible!\ \ Together, we have seen how traditional publishing has let writers from marginalized groups down, and this year we have seen, in many ways, how publishing in community could be the perfect response.\ \ This year, books from Bindery imprints have made best sellers lists, made (multiple) book boxes (including Aardvark!), made the Good Reads choice awards! And we are just beginning! It's a win-win for authors who decide to work with Bindery- all of the perks of traditional publishing and not having to worry about influencer support. \ \ I will admit that this entire experience hasn't all been easy. I thought I was going to open up to Indigenous authors and have so many submissions, I wouldn't know how to narrow it down! But it's been a challenge! And I've been doing a lot of work, that will continue into next year, to help make sure Indigenous writers know about this incredible opportunity. \ \ The decision to open up the imprint to women writing horror was a natural one. Women have always been the heart of horror. It's time to center them.\ \ I believe that reading is resistance. And I believe that our publishing in community is resistance. I believe that traditional publishing sleeps on the best stories, the most needed stories. I believe that together we are opening up spaces for more perspectives, more stories- better stories, stories with depth, history, humor, rage and (GASP) originality. \ \ I am so excited for the future of this imprint. [Hello My Friends,\ \ I've been working on so many thing but Return to Office has been kicking my butt, so I'm a bit behind on sharing!\ \ I'm so excited to be able to share our first WOMEN IN HORROR BOOK BINGO CARD!\ \ If you've been around for awhile, you are familiar with my Indigenous Book Bingo Cards (we currently have 3!) These are available in my Instagram Stories and in our Community Discord! (Join now if you haven't already!)\ \ I had so much difficulty limiting this to 25 books, so if you fear your favorite female author is missing, don't! There will definitely be more rounds of this game!\ \ I was STUNNED to see that with a total of 191 works being nominated for the Stoker Award best novel that only 26 WOMEN have been nominated since inception! (33 total as some were nominated more than once). That number is egregious. When Tananarive Due won in 2023 for The Reformatory, the last woman who won in the category was Caitlin R Kierman (who is problematic and not recommended) in .....2012!!!
