This recommendation is actually a whole staff pick, as we all love T. Kingfisher and all her writing!
“What Moves the Dead” is a Poe retelling of “The Fall of the House of Usher”, it has a dark atmosphere, with a sense of humor! The story follows Alex Easton, a retired soldier, who journeys to The House of Usher after receiving word that their childhood friend, Madeline Usher, is dying. Upon arrival, Easton discovers that Madeline's illness is far more severe and gruesome than they ever imagined.
